My departure from using synthetic dyes has been one with consideration of our waterways and personal health. By growing, harvesting and using natural plants for dyemaking, we can become even more connected with the colors and gifts of the earth.

I am not one to shy away from extra steps in an art-making process, and it often takes me weeks between gathering, making the dye, prepping the fiber, dyeing, and finishing to complete some fabrics. But when the results are so beautifully unique and natural, it is certainly time well spent.
